Cocktails with Vodka
Vodka is just not a drink anymore – it is the mother of cocktails. The simple drink originated in Eastern Europe but now it is made and available all over the world with its sizzling flavors and scintillating taste. Who would have thought that something made of potatoes could rock the world?
Vodka has a neutral flavor with the ability to mix well with others. Thus, you see various cocktails made from vodka. You can find vodka cocktails from flavors of vanilla to blueberries – the list is endless. The most popular spirit has led to proliferation of many new cocktails, flavors and brands. Although the infused flavored vodka is available in the market, yet people make their own using the ingredients of their choice. As for the price, it depends on the quality and brand – go for the vodka in a plastic bottle and it will taste like that too.
Some of the super popular vodka cocktails include – martinis, long island iced teas and cosmopolitan.
Vodka Martini
A simple vodka martini is a straightforward cocktail drink carrying an olive. To make this drink, vodka and vermouth are mixed together with a couple of ice cubes in a shaker and strained in a cocktail glass where an olive is presented over the top. This extremely good looking vodka cocktail is prepared in a jiffy, as you might have observed but it is no less in flavor or taste.
Bloody Mary
It is an old time classic vodka cocktail – you must have heard of it. All the ingredients – large shot of pepper vodka, tomato juice, Tabasco, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, horseradish sauce and celery stick are mixed together in a shaker filled with ice. This cocktail is pretty easy to make and deliciously beautiful in taste.
White Russian
White Russian has been around for a while but it’s not a Russian cocktail. Don’t let the name fool you; this sweet cocktail is named so after anti-Bolshevik White Russian groups in Russian Civil War. To make this vodka cocktail, you need vodka obviously, Kahlua and cream. Vodka is mixed with Kahlua in a shaker filled with ice, shaken well and after transferring the content in an ice filled glass, a single layer of cream is poured on top.
Vodka Expresso
Vodka in coffee flavor is pretty interesting too. It is true though, the drink is magnificent. Dick Bradsell – a famous cocktail mixer, invented this drink after a model asked for something that would wake her up. Made of vodka, espresso coffee, sugar syrup and Kahlua, this drink will definitely “wake you up”.
