Since very early times Italy has proved its mettle as one of the finest wine producers of the world. The country is known for its variety of wines and the variations that exist in the wines depending upon which region of the country it was produced in. Almost all regions of Italy are famous for their characteristic wines. Main regions famous for Wine export

 

In the Northwest region of Italy, Piedmont region remains to be the most valued contender of producing and exporting superb wines. The place is especially famous for its Nebbiolo grapes. The choicest wines that are cultured from this variety of grape are the Barolo, Barbaresco and Dolcetto.

 

The Northeast region is famous for its Tre Venezie. These are the three specific zones of this region that are uniquely famous for specific wine production and export. These zones comprise of Veneto, Trentino- Alto Adige and Friuli – Venezia Giulia. The wine of these regions is basically affected by the fact that they are shaded by the Alps and protected from the cold climatic effects of Europe. These zones, especially Veneto is famous for D.O.C wines.

 

The central region of Italy is the region that holds most of the places that have become synonymous with Italian branded wines. There is Tuscany, Umbria, Marches and Molise to name a few. The popular grape of this region has to be the Sangiovese variety. Trebiano and Orvietto are the white grapes that are most popular here. The wines of this region, like the Chianti or even Pinot Noir, are well known and popular all over the world.

 

South of Italy holds Sicily, Calabria and Apulia which are quite famous as wine producers and probably one of the largest bases of wine exporters as well. The quality of wine of this region has always been a little low than the other illustrious regions of the country. However, this region is vastly improving and making use of modern technology to produce better quality wines. It still remains the largest exporter of industrial alcohol for commercial purposes.
